Derick Sylvester Prostea, 48, of Back Street, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, was reportedly murdered on Wednesday night, according to a police report.
Prostea was allegedly killed by a 25-year-old man of Ally Street, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, around 18:45 hrs on Grove Public Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and the victim had a misunderstanding, which escalated, leading to Prostea being stabbed in the right shoulder, causing him to collapse.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Diamond Hospital, where a doctor officially pronounced him dead.
Police, acting on information received, swiftly apprehended the suspect in Kaneville. He remains in custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.
