Leonard McCoshen, the retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigator who was identified by the Guyana government to work alongside the Guyana Police Force in the death investigation of Adriana Younge, is expected to arrive in the country this evening.
This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum when questioned by reporters at the opening of the Association of Caribbean Police Commissioners (ACCP) Annual General Meeting at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre today.
Blanhum said the police are currently moving ahead with the probe into the 11-year-old’s death.
“The probe is ongoing. The investigation is at the evidence gathering or evidence accumulation stage. The detectives are currently examining several possibilities and theories and at the end of the day these theories and possibilities will be evaluated against the evidence we have in our possession.”
Investigators have contacted some members of Adriana’s family over the weekend, and it is expected that at least four individuals who were in the pool on the day of Adriana’s disappearance will be questioned.
Addressing concerns about the deceased girl’s family’s confidence in the police investigators, Blanhum said that the best team has been selected and that the investigators are very objective.
“I have instructed them to ensure that they do not disregard any information or any evidence during this probe.”
Regarding the owner of the Double Day Hotel, Bhojnarine Bhola, Blanhum stated that certain restrictions have been placed on him, including a prohibition on leaving the jurisdiction. He is, however, required to report to the police station daily, the Crime Chief noted.
