Joseph Sahadeo, a 58-year-old resident of Grant Ville Park, BV, East Coast Demerara, died on Sunday after a jet ski collision at Splashmin Fun Park and Village.
The fatal incident occurred around 1:00 pm while Sahadeo was operating one of two jet skis brought to the park by his family.
According to a police report, Sahadeo collided with another jet ski carrying his daughter, Padmini Sahadeo, and her friend. He reportedly hit his head during the crash and fell into the water.
Family members and friends quickly pulled him from the water and rushed him to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was examined by a doctor and pronounced dead. Visible injuries were seen on his head and face.
Sahadeo had arrived at the park earlier that day with his wife, Goumattie Singh, daughter, and other relatives for a family outing. His body was later transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
