Guyanese and West Indies cricketer Gudakesh Motie has been appointed as an official Tourism Brand Ambassador for Guyana, marking a significant move to bridge sports and sustainable tourism. The announcement was made by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with Motie’s management agency, Gravity Sports.
Renowned for his rising career in cricket and his deep-rooted connection to Guyana, Motie will now lend his influence to promote the country as a premier sustainable tourism destination, both locally and internationally. As part of his new role, he will feature in destination marketing campaigns, participate in community outreach and fan engagement events, and make media appearances.
“Gudakesh Motie represents the spirit of Guyana: proud, determined, and grounded in community and culture,” said Kamrul Baksh, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority. “We are honoured to partner with him to showcase Guyana’s diverse and authentic tourism experiences. His growing profile in cricket and his strong Guyanese identity make him a powerful advocate for sustainable tourism and national pride.”
Motie will also go on guided tours across the country to explore and experience Guyana’s rich natural, cultural, and adventure tourism offerings. He is expected to share these experiences with audiences across the Caribbean and beyond.
The partnership forms part of the GTA’s wider strategy to align sports, culture, and tourism, using high-profile figures to tell the story of Guyana as an eco-conscious, vibrant, and welcoming travel destination.
